The Startup Lounge

The Startup Lounge is a free, culturally affirming space in downtown Seattle where Black youth and young adults can connect, create, and grow as entrepreneurs. The Lounge blends business education with artistry, creativity, community, and culture.

The Start Up Lounge serves as both an incubator and a gathering place, equipping emerging entrepreneurs with the tools, mentorship, and inspiration they need to launch and sustain their ideas while celebrating the power of Black identity, expression, and innovation.​ With music, creativity, and community, the program combats social isolation, fosters entrepreneurial growth, and promotes economic empowerment while celebrating Black excellence. The Startup Lounge infuses energy and vibrancy into a needed area, transforming it into a hub for innovation, collaboration, and cultural expression, contributing to the city’s downtown revitalization efforts.

What to Expect

  • Hands-On Workshops – Gain practical skills in branding, business planning, financial literacy, and marketing.

  • The Pitch Zone – Present your business ideas, receive constructive feedback, and connect with experienced mentors.

  • Panel Discussions – Hear from successful Black entrepreneurs, innovators, and community leaders.

  • Social Media Strategy Sessions – Build a strong digital presence and grow your audience.

  • Networking Opportunities – Meet like-minded peers, potential collaborators, and business mentors.

  • Cultural Experiences – Enjoy live DJ sets, spoken word performances, and art-infused networking activities.

The Start Up Lounge is the perfect place for young entrepreneurs to share how their business started and tell their entrepreneurial journey. You can talk about your core values, your commitment to customers, and what makes your business unique. You can even showcase photos or samples of your products or services. The Lounge really gives you the space and support to present your business and grow.”
